Associate Professor in Games and AI
Dr. Ioannis Kypraios received his BEng in Computer Systems Engineering with first class (hons). He has an MSc in Digital Comm. Systs with distinction. He was awarded an EU Bursary and in 2004 (grad. July 2005) he completed his Doctorate at University of Sussex in Fully Robust Digital Optical Object Recognition Systems. He is the author of several articles and papers in Internl Conferences and Journals, incl. IEEE Proc., Optical Society of America (OSA) Applied Optics Journal, IEEE Trans and Proceeds, IET Special Series and SPRINGER Special Series. In Sept 2012 his book “Advances in Object Recognition Systems” by Intech feat. in a University of Oxford e-news page. Previously, he has organised and chaired a special session in “Advances in Image Processing” hosted by MIT, USA. In Aug 2012, he presented his work in human synthetic movement monitoring for an internl. symposium sponsored by the Russian Academy of Sciences. In Aug 2013, he presented his work in Neurocomputing and cognitive hybrid robust object recognition systems at Karolinska Institute,Stockholm,Sweden. In Feb 2012, he was appointed an IEEE CIS GOLD Subcom Member. From 2005-to-2008, he has 2+ years of Postdoc. In 2008, he became a Research Fellow at Univ of Sussex. In 2010, he became a vstng. Senior Research Scientist at MMLAB of the University of Gent in Belgium. In Jan 2011, he became Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Dept of Engineering and Informatics, ICTM (London South Bank University), London, and in April 2012 he joined APEM’s Computing Labs at Begbroke Science Park of Univ of Oxford, UK. In Mar 2014, he became a Snr Research Engineer at Continental ADAS SV. Amongst the Institutes he has collaborated are the Space Science Centre at Univ of Sussex, Univ of Bradford, Univ of Gent (UGENT) in Belgium, Technical Univ of Crete (TUC) in Greece, and NASA’s JPL in California. He is a full member of the IET and IEEE, and he is a registered 2020 Horizon Expert and a registered IEEE Expert Spokesperson.
